Project K24 More Midrange power
If you had previously read our 5 part technical article ‘Project K24’ you might recall that we finished off by gaining a large amount of power with one of our CNC ported cylinder heads, however it might have appeared on face value, that we had traded a gain in top end power for a loss in mid range power. Having had the time to revisit this we can now show that with the correct setup good midrange power is achievable alongside good top end power. See dyno chart below:
The above boost in midrange power was achieved by adjusting the following:
Cam opening and closing points
Induction length
VTC cam angles
Vtec crossover point
If you now refer back to the comparison with the supercharged K20 the results above boost the performance of the aspirated K24 even further above that of the Supercharged K20, all this still utilising the K24's stock bottom end. Image just what is achievable after carrying out modifications to the K24 bottom end also !
