Like many components on modern vehicles, the factory Civic FK8 intercooler has been designed primarily with cost in mind. This compromise has resulted in a far from optimal design which can limit the power of your vehicle.

To explain this further - if intake air temperatures rise above a value that the ECU does not like, the ECU will reduce power until the air temperature recovers to a value that the ECU can accept. This means that even in stock form, you may not always be getting the most power available from your vehicle. Furthermore, if you are going to tune your vehicle the demand for better cooling is even more important.

The CPL Racing FK8 intercooler was designed using our extensive in-house CAD/CAM facilities and after carrying out many dyno and road tests on a test vehicle to ensure optimum design. Design emphasis was focused on all critical areas for improvement as follows:

Lowest possible air temperatures
The lowest possible air temperatures have been achieved by utilising a larger ‘Bar and Plate’ design of core, with appropriate fin spacing to trap as much airflow as possible across the core.

Efficiency
The maximum efficiency has been achieved with the design of smooth flowing end tanks, ensuring that all charge air is evenly distributed across the whole of the core.

Quality
The CPL Racing intercooler is manufactured by us here in the UK in our own workshop. This allows us to ensure that each intercooler passes every stage of our quality inspection process, and does not leave our workshop without first passing our extensive quality checks.
In addition, the CPL Racing intercooler is manufactured from the highest quality materials, using the same processes you would see in modern aircraft manufacture.
